About the Role

DS Refrigeration is looking for a motivated 2nd or 3rd Year Apprentice to join our team and gain valuable, hands-on experience in the Refrigeration & Air Conditioning industry.

Working alongside our experienced engineers, you will assist with the installation, servicing, and maintenance of a wide range of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills, gain real-world experience, and work towards becoming a fully qualified engineer in
a fast-growing industry.

Important: Applicants must be currently enrolled in a recognised Refrigeration & Air Conditioning apprenticeship programme at college.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, servicing, and maintenance of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems
  • Work alongside experienced engineers to develop practical, technical skills
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs under supervision
  • Safely use tools and equipment following company an industry standards
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies

Skills & Experience Required

  • Currently enrolled in a Refrigeration & Air Conditioning apprenticeship (2nd or 3rd Year)
  • A technical mindset with good attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills and initiative
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems (preferred but not essential)

  • Strong interest in the Refrigeration & Air Conditioning industry
  • Motivated, reliable, and eager to learn
  • Willingness to work hard and support qualified engineers
  • Proactive and organised with a positive attitude
  • Seeking an employer to complete your on-the-job apprenticeship training

Qualifications Gained Upon Completion*

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (or equivalent qualification)
  • F-Gas Category 1 Certification (legally required for handling refrigerants)
  • Health & Safety Certification
  • Practical experience in installation, maintenance, servicing, and fault diagnosis
  • Full industry-recognised qualifications to work as a fully qualified engineer

(*All qualifications are awarded by your college/training provider upon successful completion of your apprenticeship. DS Refrigeration
provides the on-the-job training and support.)
